It began with a simple idea. Make indoor cycling epic. An immersive experience for riders who want something more.
And then came the execution.
Flywheel was founded by a passionate team of fitness experts, dedicated to re-inventing the indoor cycling experience through camaraderie, technology, music and, most importantly, fun.
Led by a NY-based management team with extensive experience in branded sports and fitness ventures, Flywheel was developed by the best in the business, including creative director and legendary indoor cycling instructor Ruth Zukerman.
Every Flywheel ride delivers a high-intensity cardio workout in a fun, welcoming, and energetic atmosphere.
Our custom-made bikes are tailored to offer maximum comfort and encourage maximum performance.
Our proprietary technology enables riders to get the most out of their workouts by gauging their output, helping to set personal goals and tracking progress over time.
Our large screen Torqboards ignite the competitive streak in our elite riders.
Our studios are breathtaking with stadium-style seating, ample space and extensive amenities.
Our approach to music is truly unique and led by an in-house DJ. Our world-class Instructors choreograph their classes with playlists that change for every ride.
In February 2010, we launched our flagship studio in the Flatiron district of New York. Since then, we rapidly expanded throughout the city and The Hamptons, traveled down the coast to Florida, dug our heels into Chicago, and then traversed the river to New Jersey.
Soon, we’ll be flying in Miami, Atlanta and a variety of cities throughout the US. (Check out our full list of current locations.)
But it wasn’t enough. So along the way, we created FlyBarre, the perfect complement to indoor cycling. FlyBarre combines yoga, dance, circuit training, pilates, and strength building to create a workout that tightens everything from head to toe, with routines that are anything but. Each class is unique as instructors constantly change music, props, and positions.
Flywheel has literally re-invented the wheel. Come in for a ride, immerse yourself and share in our philosophy to NEVER COAST.
This is the workout for you.
Whoever you are.
The workout that offers a chance to achieve something more.
To step up onto a custom engineered bike.
And ride as hard as you dare.
This is the experience crafted by Ruth Zukerman, the legendary instructor and driving force behind the New York indoor cycling phenomenon.
An experience that lasts 45 or 60 minutes and includes climbs and descents, while working arms with weighted bars. It’s an amazing escape that challenges your body and relaxes your mind. Our studios offer stadium-style seating, making every seat in the house a good one.
Music is also an integral part of the Flywheel experience. Our playlists are created by instructors from a collection of music carefully curated by our own in-house DJ. Instructors choreograph their own classes, syncing their rides to the beat, assuring a fresh ride every time, and showing a little glimpse of their unique personalities.
In a Flywheel class, your instructor will lead the way, suggesting target resistance levels and RPM’s to strive for. But YOU decide exactly what’s right for you by controlling the technology on your bike. If you’re feeling pumped, ride harder and faster than the targets. And if you’re just beginning, you can take it down a notch.
Your Flywheel bike is tailor-made and can be customized for you. Not only do you set the positions that fit your body and comfort levels, but you control your “tech-pack”. Each bike has a tech-pack that displays your resistance (“torq”), your speed (RPM’s) and your power output (current and cumulative for the class). This allows you to know how you’re performing at all times.
If you’re the competitive type, you may opt in to participate in our in-studio Torqboards – large-screen displays that occasionally flash leaderboards that show how you’re performing.
Your stats for every ride will be recorded and made available in your private account on our website. You’ll see your own metrics for every ride you take with Flywheel, including RPM’s, Torq, Speed, Power, Distance and Estimated Calories. This will allow you to set your own goals and measure your performance over time.
And of course, you should expect all the extras we don’t consider extra – including free towels, bike shoes, lockers and more to keep you comfortable and riding at peak performance.
You’ll ride just once before you understand completely, “Why Flywheel?”
This is about you. Your experience. Your sweat. Your performance. And to make it count, Flywheel is equipped with technology that sets a new standard for indoor cycling.
Your bike is custom-made. Not only do you set the positions that fit your body and comfort levels, but you are the master of your “tech-pack”. Each bike has a tech-pack, a small computer that displays your resistance (we call it “Torq”), your speed (RPM’s) and your Power output (current and cumulative for the class). This allows you to know how you’re performing at all times, when you’re exceeding targets, and when you need to push harder.
Every Flywheel studio features two Torqboards – large screens that display leaderboards a few times during each class. So if you’re at all competitive, you may opt in to participate in our Torqboards and find out how you rank against other riders.
For every ride you take, we capture a list of performance metrics that we post in your private account on our website. It’s real data in real time. Which means, as soon as class is over, you can log on and see your stats, like how fast and how strong you rode, along with how this compares to your previous rides and how you rank against other riders. You’ll see metrics for RPM’s, Torq, Speed, Power, Distance and even Calories Burned. This allows you to set your own goals and measure your performance over time.
So fix your eyes on the road and go for broke. And we’ll let you know how you did.
